Interpreting a behaviour or a discourse consists in clarifying the meanings that it assumes. Interpretation raises four major difficulties: the interpreted facts are themselves interpretations, cultural meanings are neither univocal nor unanimous, interpretations are the object of conflicts, and the understanding of the other is the interpretation of oneself.
