Abstract

The notion of hegemony includes the analysis of the differences in power that a group possesses (State, society, government, country, confederation) over another group by relying on a predominance or a control in political, economic, military, social, cultural, and geopolitical fields. Gramsci’s idea of hegemony that not only relies on military or physical powers, but also on ideas and values, largely echoes among anthropologists.
