Abstract

This reflective article offers an ecofeminist and hydrofeminist analysis of the importance of art, and more broadly of emotions, in climate change thoughts. First, I suggest abandoning the multiple dualisms found in Western thought. Indeed, those dualisms contribute not only to the subordination of women and minorities, but also to an erroneous conception of reason, which, isolated from emotions, is leading us towards a form of ecological denial. Then, I introduce the hydrofeminist theory which perceives water as the common element of the world. I illustrate this analysis with a few concrete examples of ecofeminist or hydrofeminist art. Through this article, my goal is to offer another way of being in the world.
