The verb “shamanize,” which appeared in 1990, refers to a communitarian notion where the shaman is the key figure. Referring to a traditional practice, this verb is also part of the contemporary while implying a change in the terminology of the verb. There is also a distinction to be made between “acting as a shaman,” which is reserved for those who are recognized as such, and “shamanizing,” which is an individual practice.
