Considering the border as a space makes it possible to take into account both physical borders, marking and territorialization devices, often established by powers, and borders as places invested with socio-cultural practices where solidarities and economic opportunities are deployed. An ethnographic approach to borders focuses on the practices of individuals and communities and the cultural, symbolic and material constructions that give meaning to borders.
