Generally attributed to sociologist Max Weber, ethnicity is at the centre of a vast scholarly literature. “Ethnicity” encompasses ethnic identity, the cultural patterns that form its boundaries, associations and institutions, as well as its memory and symbolic resources that are used to develop a vision of the future. This concept represents an ever-relevant tool for the study of intergroup relations.
