Abstract

Genocide is described as the systematic elimination of difference, which contradicts the primary purpose of anthropology. Through the creation of the anthropology of genocide, it became possible to establish the historical and contextual causes of various genocidal movements and events while adding nuance to some of the already established anthropological work.
