At the crossroads between the biological and the cultural as well as the individual and the social, eating habits have been the focus of the anthropological gaze since the beginnings of the discipline in the 19th century. Even today, this intertwining of food in different aspects of human life leads to the development of multiple research perspectives that are at the heart of several undertakings to renew anthropological research.
