Abstract

The cult of the saints refers to a set of rites and beliefs. Some believers perceive the idea of God as too abstract, thus justifying their need for a tangible sacred. The cult of the saints calls for the believer’s body and emotions. It is rejected by followers of spirituality-based religions. Saints also fulfil social functions.
