Abstract

At the crossroads between two terms seemingly opposite lie two disciplines that are closely related: sociology and anthropology. Tradition, described as a past custom persisting in the present, is mostly studied in anthropology. Modernity, creator of traditions, is the central element of sociology. Therefore, a complementarity is observed between both terms.
