The strict limit between anthropology and utopianism, essentially based on the distinction between the act of uncovering the answers to society’s contradictions and that of inventing them, stretched at the start of the 20th century. This stretch first started with the ethnography of communities with experimental practices such as the kibbutz, continued with studies on mobilizations inspired by the spirit of utopia issued from religious, prophetic, and revolutionary movements, and ended with the objective of revitalizing social life.
