Are riots “unmentionable”? Seen as grounds for semantic confrontation, riots emerge when the common categories shaping the public space are shaken by a search for new repertoires of contention and interlocution. This entry presents a contemporary lexical analysis of riots throughout different protesting events of the 21st century.
