Abstract

This entry presents an analysis on the growing interest shown towards language construction regarding international and auxiliary languages, such as Esperanto (19th century and beginning of the 20th century) or “constructed” languages, such as the more recent example of Klingon. This analysis views these phenomena as responses to times of crisis in international relations caused by the limits enforced by the Nation-state’s framework.
