Anthropology of the USA is an immensely broad field, containing the four fields of Sociocultural Anthropology, Linguistic Anthropology, Archaeology, and Biological Anthropology. Each of these subfields has a complex history, rich and shifting canons, methods, and specializations. This entry deals most with sociocultural anthropology of the USA, touching on some of its most influential ideas and practitioners over the course of the twentieth century, and outlining certain key aspects of the discipline in the present.
