L'archéologie communautaire se questionne sur ses responsabilités vis-à-vis des diverses communautés concernées par la pratique archéologique. Qui sont-elles d'abord, et quels intérêts portent-ils au patrimoine matériel ? Désillusionnés de leurs prétentions positivistes et cherchant à décentrer leur regard pour le bénéfice de toutes les parties intéressées, les archéologues s'engagent dans une nouvelle quête éthique et épistémologique axée sur la collaboration.
