Abstract

A study of the adequacy conditions of indirect discourse is required for a good understanding of historical work in philosophy, the central idea here being that of « semantical equivalence ». The paper shows on this basis, why a wide variety of different reformulations is acceptable in principle for a given doctrine according to the interests and the context of the historian.
