Abstract

Over the past decades, the Franciscan theologian Gonzalvus Hispanus has been for all intents and purposes forgotten by historians of mediaeval philosophy. This paper attempts to renew discussions of his works by providing an approach of his as of yet unexplored by any published works epistemology of faith stemming mainly from his Quaestio disputata IX. This aspect of Gonzalvus’ thought can be interpreted as the extension of his psychology of habitus in order to provide insights into his understanding of theology as a practical science.
