Le cosmos est-il le visage de Dieu?

Abstract

Is it possible to consider the contemporary scientific cosmological discourse as a theophany, i.e. as a visible and immediate manifestation of God? More broadly put: does science open a way to God? In opposition to a common and repeated affirmation, the author, inspired by Jean Ladrière, claims that there is no direct and necessary way from science to faith. Nevertheless, faith can assume the scientific image of the world and confer to it a meaning of its own. To do so requires a hermeneutical journey that articulates the various levels of meaning and in which philosophy plays a key mediating role.
