La prédication excessive d'Eckhart : le langage du cœur
Abstract
In this article, we will see how Master Eckhart was able to open the perspectives of language by speaking from eternity and directing his discourse towards it. In this way, in our opinion, he was able to restore to the human Word all its divine brilliance, and to make man an “adverb to the Word”, disposing the soul to receive fully the Love of God, his uncreated grace as a gift of his Spirit. The Master was thus a mystical poet, as much as a philosopher and a theologian: he restored to language all its nuances, all its subtlety because he let the Spirit of God exceed the logos. This excess is not only an overflow of meaning, but also and above all an indwelling of the Word in the soul, the test of a spiritual pathos. To speak of what one cannot speak of is thus to attempt one’s approach by feeling, pathos, that is, by what we call, in this article, the language of the heart where the third theological virtue becomes first, through the common and singular experience, the interior trial of God’s love.
