Medically assisted reproduction involves medical intervention and the contribution of third biological parties into the biological process of procreation. It entails a growing technicisation of the processes of human life creation and introduces them into a globalized market. Anthropology is equipped to approach issues raised by medically assisted reproduction regarding the reconfiguration of parenthood, the role of genetics, the exploitation of women’s bodies, infertility, couples’ experiences, and judicial frameworks.
